Club News 21st September 2026

Now the team matches are over we have had a number of our athletes both Junior, Seniors and Masters competing in various levels around the Country.

At the Junior end of the age range Matt Turcato competed in the CP National Parathletics at Coventry on Saturday 5th and 6th September in the T37 Class and won Gold in both the 200m and 1500m.

Janes Fabes competed on Friday 11th and Saturday 12th September at the National Masters Championships in Derby, winning both the gold medal in the 1500m W70 race in a time of 6:16.38 and on the following day won the gold medal in the W70 800m in a time of 3:04.42 in a very close finish where Jane out sprinted the Anna Garnier in the final 150m.

On the 13th September in Kingston on Thames, the Southern U16-U18 Regional Inter counties Championships took place, with Imogen Ford and Maddie Kingston representing Oxfordshire in the U18 Women’s Team

Maddie came second in the 400mh and 5th in the 100m both in personal best time and Imogen Ford came 5th in the 100mh also in a PB time.

Also, on the Sunday saw the 2nd of the Abingdon AC Quad Kids open.

We had a great turn out of 65+ junior athletes on a mixed weather day.

The day went very smoothly and ended  the day with two fun 8 x 50m relays for those taking Part.

Thanks to the volunteers and the team of Sam, Sarah, Andreea on data entry and as always  our hard-working volunteers, that make the day go smoothly and add to the enjoyment the Quad Kids get from the day

Then on Saturday 19th saw the Club Headline the Abingdon Park run, with a great turn out of yellow and green vests helping both Marshall on the day and compete in the park run.

1st Runner home was Zac Coulson U16 [Abingdon AC] who out sprinted another boy of a similar age in a great battle all the way round to finish in 17 minutes 37 seconds and the last runner home was our Chairman Tim Foxall in a time of 1hr 51 seconds.

And finally, Maddie Kingston was in action again in her first outing at the English School National Combined Championships in Bedford over the weekend, representing Oxfordshire.

Maddie finish in a credible 10th place, which considering how tough it is to compete in 7 different events in 2 days shows there is more to come next year.
