This fantastic race is very popular, particularly with runners chasing a PB or a qualifying time for bigger events.
It has gained a reputation for being well organised and friendly with our great volunteers getting a special mention in the sporting press.
Why you should volunteer
We are incredibly proud of how the marathon has grown and how much money it has raised for local charities. Not only that but because of the number of AAC members who volunteer each year, the marathon makes a generous contribution to our club's funds. We use the money to buy new equipment for the club, which can be anything from javelins to poles and from subsidising race entries to buy medals for our track stars.
We all benefit from the money we get from the marathon, so it's up to us to give back. We ask for each of us to give up a bit of our time on one Sunday in October.
If we don't get the 200-plus volunteers needed, the race cannot go ahead.
How to volunteer
You will first need to create an account on our volunteer website. It's easy to do and will allow you to keep track of your volunteer role and find out about each role. Register for an account.
If you already have an account, you will have received an email from the volunteer website asking if you are available to help this year. Follow the instructions in the email without delay! If you didn't get the email, log into your account and use the button on the bottom of your profile page to tell us if you are available.

If you know people who may also be able to help, please encourage them to volunteer. They can choose one of the nominated local charities when they sign up, and The Abingdon Marathon will donate on their behalf.
