Cross country
Abingdon AC participates in two cross country leagues and several championship races, including the Berks, Bucks and Oxon (BBO) cross country championship.
Oxfordshire Cross Country League
The Oxfordshire Cross Country (XC) League is the only cross country league in Oxfordshire. It is a friendly league that welcomes all abilities. It is open to all ages from 8 years old and up.
If you haven't tried XC since school, then maybe it is time to give it another go.
The races are on the first Sunday of the month and run from November to March. We have a club tent that you can change and leave your belongings in while you race. Learn more on the Oxfordshire Cross Country League website.

All fixtures are on a Sunday.
5 November 2023 – Cornbury (Bicester AC and Witney Roadrunners)
3 December 2023 – Cirencester Park (White Horse Harriers AC and Didcot Runners)
7 January 2024 – Horspath Stadium, Oxford (Oxford City AC – combined OXL/Oxon XC Championships fixture)
4 February 2024 – Cotswold Farm Park, Guiting Power (Witney Roadrunners)
4 March 2024 – Henley Showground (Abingdon AC/Radley AC)
How to enter
To take part in XC races, you must:
be a paid-up member of Abingdon AC
wear an Abingdon AC vest.
Some of the courses can be very muddy, so we recommend you have a pair of XC spikes or trail shoes.
The club coordinates entries – keep an eye on the weekly club emails for when entries open and entry fees are due.
League rules

Chiltern League XC
You can enter as an individual via the Chiltern XC League website, where fixture dates are advertised.
Berks, Bucks and Oxon (BBO) Cross Country Championship
The BBO is a historic race dating back to 1911. The history of the event, along with the rules, can be found on their website.
The 2023 fixture will take place on 19 November 2023. Entries are coordinated and paid for by the club. We will notify members by email when they open.
