London Marathon club places
The rules for the club places draw.
The club receives several London Marathon places thanks to our affiliation with England Athletics. The number of places allocated to us is out of control, but we have received two in recent years.
We hold a draw for these places at some time between the Eynsham 10k and the Pudding Run.
Rules of the draw
To qualify for the draw, you must meet all four criteria.
One
You must have been a first claim member of Abingdon AC who has not explicitly opted out of EA affiliation for a minimum of 12 months on the draw date.
'First claim' means Abingdon AC is your main running club.
Two
You must have participated in at least one club championship race between 1 January and the draw date. Note that you must wear a club vest for any race where the club championship rules require it.
Three
You must have volunteered or officiated or coached at one of the following.
Marshalled at:
summer Mota-vation races.
the Oxfordshire Cross-Country League race co-hosted by the club (typically early March)
the Chiltern Cross-Country League when we are required to supply marshals
the Ridgeway Challenge check-point (typically late May / early June)
the BBO cross country (typically November)
Officiated or volunteered at an athletics meeting in one of the four leagues we participate in:
Midland League
Vets League
Oxfordshire Junior League
Wessex Junior League
Coached on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays.
Four
You must not have received a club London Marathon place in the previous year (unless there are too few qualifying applicants).
