Sunday 23 February saw a small but select group of Abingdon athletes (only 21 this time) compete in round 4 of Sportshall in Bicester.

We may not have had the numbers but we did get some great results with 3 club records being broken!

New records

Celena Appleby-Prince (U15) broke a really longstanding record in the 4 lap with a time of 53.9 (removing Jemma Gregory's time of 54.3). Celena also equalled her own record from the 2018/19 season (and a C Duncan's) in the vertical jump with 52cm.

Oscar Oweka and Max Koelbl (U13) broke a record that Oscar and Connor Morgan only set this season in the paarlauf with a time of 1.45.0 (the previous having been 1.47.2)

Maddie Kingston (U11) then broke one club record in the 3 lap with a time of 40.3 (also removing a long-standing record of Jemma Gregory of 41.0) and equalled another in the 1 lap with a time of 13.2 (joining Jemma Gregory's long-standing record and Hana Horby's from the 2016/17 season).

Congratulations to all of you for those fantastic results. Not to be outdone we also had PB's set by some of the other athletes.

Have fun and good luck with your events.

Date of the final event

Hope to see a few more athletes at the final Sportshall of the season on 29 March at King Alfred's Academy West Site, Challow Road, Wantage, OX12 9DU. Also a big hello to Lee Dean who has stepped up to become Sportshall team manager for next season's Sportshalls' heat, noise and fun!
