Latest update from the Inter-counties cross country.

A cold bright winters day on Saturday at Horspath pulled in some of the best cross country athletes from the south east of the country to compete in the Southern inter-counties. This is not an event for the faint hearted often bringing in smaller but stronger fields than the bigger national events later on in the year.

Abingdon AC had a great turnout of athletes proudly wearing the white and blue Oxfordshire vest, each one of them deserving it on their backs.

Abingdon AC represented Oxfordshire in 6/9 races, proving what good depth and talent we have across the ages.

Under 13 boys: Seb Lawton 96th (team placing 11th and 21st)
Under 15 girls: Meike Belington 56th, Beth Darwent 98th, Rosie Mullins 112th, Izzie Jones 113th, Georgia Evans 119th (team placing 12th, 23rd and 24th)
Under 15 boys: Kie Francis 68th, Alfie Clay 98th (team placing 10th and 22nd)
Under 17 girls: still awaiting results but Katharine Harris ran possibly one of the best runs of her career so far!
Under 17 boys: Alex Pennington 79th, Elias Lawton 92nd (team placing 15th)
Senior ladies: Cordy Parker 54th (team placing 13th)

Each Abingdon athlete ran strong and had a lot of cold but very proud supporters.

Well done everyone in Abingdon AC and the other Oxfordshire athletes. Enjoy Christmas and now focus on events in 2018 and enjoy a day of rest, or perhaps making some snowmen!
