Hendred Handicap 2023
Unfortunately, as Indicated by our president John Stead before the race, this marks the first year that none of the family of Jonathan cousins, who sadly passed away in a car accident and to whom the Hendred Handicap is dedicated to, were able to take part in the race. However in true AAC fashion we still turned up in number to honour his memory and tackle the hill in the sweltering heat.
It was Phil Swarbrick who took the win this year and best newcomer went to Graham Lougher. Joint fastest finishers were Peter Akrill and Emma Butcher (Sorry no trophy, only bragging rights).
Thank you to all the volunteers for coming out and helping keep the tradition alive. We had a surplus of volunteers, which as we all know is not to be sniffed at.
Thank you to everyone else who turned up to run. You could have stayed at home with an ice lolly and a cold pint but you decided to brave the hill and the heat. The sight of everyone collapsed on the tiny square of grass outside the plough was quite something to behold.
Thank you also for the raffle prizes donated. In total from entries and raffle tickets we took £214 which will be donated to SSNAP (Supporting sick newborn, their parents).
