2023 Pud Run

  • Wooton and Dry Sandford Community Centre Lamborough Hill Abingdon, England, OX13 6DA United Kingdom (map)

After much careful planning, I am glad to announce that the AAC 2023 Pud Run is now officially open to entries! This year’s race will take place on Sunday the 17th of December, with the race starting at 10 am from Wooton and Dry Sandford Community Centre.

This year’s race will be more exciting and open than ever before. Our glorious leader Tim and the keeper of the club purse Steve have searched far and wide (around Boars Hill) for a new route this year that will be more accessible and have less traffic than previous courses. And after much deliberation they have found a nice quiet course, both on and off road, which is not too muddy. You can view the new course here.

This new course improves on previous one in two important ways. Firstly, this year’s race is a 20k two-lap course, so pairs running the race do not have to be ferried to and from Wooton community centre as before, and there is no tossing a coin to see who takes which half. Secondly it opens the option for 10k option for people who want to run but don’t have a partner and may have gone a bit too hard on the mince pies in the run up. So this year we have 3 options for racers: The full 20k race, running in pairs (each taking on 10k) or running a solo 10k. Another great addition is that ALL club members who enter earn club champs points, not just those who run the full race. We will double the times of those doing a single lap to work out the standings as we do for the Bramley 10/20.

If you would like to compete you can sign up using the runner’s form.

You can also volunteer – we have plenty of tasks that need doing on the day. If you would like to help, you can sign up here. If you have already signed up using my previous form, there is no need to sign this volunteer form.

As always there will be plenty food (particularly Christmas puds), drink and merry making at the community centre throughout the day. We will also be running a raffle on the day so don’t forget to bring spare cash for that, but more importantly prizes for the raffle.

All money collected will go to The Trussel Trust.

As usual the race is free to club members. We also allow guests, by invitation only (charge £5). If you do want to invite guests, please be sensible and don't invite a whole other running club, thanks!
